It's been 3 and half years in California now. I forgot about G-Rock, thank you. I can't believe that went down, too. Looks like New Yorkers are very fond of top hits stations. I remember growing up in Staten Island, I was surrounded by rockers. I guess the rockers of NYC is not enough to keep rock stations going. One good thing about living in Cali is the huge variety of rock stations available. There are so many. I was able to fill all 6 presets for FM1 in my car dedicated to rock stations. How are the Denver rock stations?

I am reading this post again and I have a different perspective on the subject having recently moved. When were were deciding where to live in Colorado, me and Joe had to choose between living in Denver and living in the suburbs. I'm really glad we chose to live in Denver. After living in Staten Island and having close proximity to a lot of shops and activities, I knew I would like to live in the same type of environment. Even though I could get a larger and less expensive apartment out in the suburbs I would rather live near the city. Denver is a bit more slow paced than Manhattan, much like Staten Island. Everything is relatively close. We have a big Safeway supermarket across the street and Downtown Denver, which is the heart of the city, is a short walk away. I could get used to living here.

I share your sentiment Joanne. I too am dissapointed with the selection of music on FM radio in NYC these days. G-106.3 G-Rock used to play modern alternative rock, broadcasting from New Jersey. On January 19, 2009, with out any warning, the station changed to a Top 40 format. I was really disappointed to loose that station because there aren't any other stations on the radio in the NYC listening area that play Alternative Rock. I hardly ever listened to NY radio after G-Rock disappeared.

I think that services that offer people a more customized music listening experience will do better than FM radio, because everyone has different taste in music. This cookie cutter, one size fits all approach to broadcasting music does not work. Technology has provided us with so many other options for listening to a variety of music and I am happy for that. Let the best medium win!

I agree with you, too much of anything isn't good. Kids are becoming overweight at earlier ages due to inactivity. Sitting around playing video games, using the computer, watching TV are all sedentary activities. It's good to do them in moderation.

I sure miss the snow too! It hasn't snowed more than an inch all winter. There's something wrong with that.

You sure do love food Joanne. We're going to have to send you a care package with bagels and pizza dough and all that good stuff.
